Research Hours
Archival research may be conducted at the Jesuit Archives & Research Center (JARC) during the hours of 9:00am to 11:45am and 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, by appointment only. We require that you reach out at least three weeks in advance of when you would like to visit to ensure that we can accommodate your trip and pull the relevant materials. Please see our events page for a listing of holidays and other days when research visits are not available. Please submit a request through our Archives Request Form if you are interested in scheduling a research visit.
Open Hours
JARC is happy to open parts of our facility for use as a general study space. The study spaces are available from 10:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, with the exception of holidays and JARC events. Such closures will be posted on our events page. Guidelines regarding the use of these spaces can be read here. Those wishing to conduct research in the archives should see above.
Class Sessions
JARC is pleased to work with classes of all ages, including high school and college classes. We are able to come to you to discuss careers in the archives, or host your class to learn more about primary source research, the Jesuits, and many other topics. To schedule a classroom session with JARC, please email Maddie McDermott at jarcCollections(at)jesuits.org at least one month in advance. JARC is only able to host classes that have a clear archival component; it is not available for classes that do not require interaction from JARC staff.
Tours
With very few exceptions, JARC does not offer tours of our building to the public, including our archival storage spaces. Should you like to inquire about the availability of a tour, please email archives(at)jesuits.org with more information on the background of your request. JARC does not host private events for external groups (e.g. meetings, parties, or retreats).
Donations
JARC does not accept walk-in donations. If you have materials you believe would be a good fit for our collections, please contact Maddie McDermott at jarcCollections(at)jesuits.org to discuss the nature of your donation.
